Calendar
This is a different screen from the calendar overview in Planning. That calendar groups your existing planning items (posts/productions with a deadline) by day. This screen manages standalone calendar events (title, location, time) that don’t need to relate to a specific post — the same events you can also link to a post from the post editor.
Calendar is only visible with the Kalenders beheren (Manage calendars) role — see Roles and permissions below for who can do what beyond that.
Adding an event
Click “Nieuw evenement toevoegen” (Add new event). You fill in: title, start and end date (with an “all-day event” option), location, and description. If you pick an end date before the start date, the form shows a validation error and the event isn’t saved. Anyone with access to this screen can create a new event.
Viewing and editing an event
Click an event in the calendar to see the details on the right: title, location, start and end time. Editing and deleting are gated separately from each other — see Roles and permissions.
If you delete an appointment that is linked to posts, the link is removed from those posts. The posts themselves are kept.

Above the calendar you switch between month, week, and day view.
Open Calendar

Add an event, or open an existing one
Anyone with access can create new events; editing/deleting requires the corresponding role.

Roles and permissions
- Kalenders beheren (Manage calendars) — required to open the Calendar screen at all. Without this role, there’s no Calendar item in the menu.
- Kalender evenement bijwerken (Update calendar event) — required to edit an existing event. Without this role, Newsroom simply doesn’t show an edit button on an event.
- Kalender evenement verwijderen (Delete calendar event) — required to delete an event, separate from the edit role. Without this role, Newsroom doesn’t show a delete button.
- Creating a new event doesn’t require a role beyond Manage calendars — anyone with access to the screen can create one.
See Managing users for the full role list.
