RSS feeds
Here you manage which external RSS feeds Newsroom automatically reads for your broadcaster. New items from a linked feed automatically show up in the “RSS-feeds” tab of Inbox, where you can import each one as a post of your own, or reject it.
Roles and permissions
This page is only visible to users with the Settings role (see Managing users), and only if Newsroom Connect is enabled for your broadcaster.
You’ll find this page under the “Inbox & Connect” menu item in Settings, as a tab next to Newsroom Connect (and E-mail if that feature is also enabled) — all three belong to the Inbox.
Adding a feed
Enter a name
For example “Regional News Wire” — this is just a recognizable label for yourself, it’s shown next to every item fetched from this feed in Inbox.
Enter the feed URL
The full link to the RSS/Atom feed itself (for example
https://example.com/feed.xml), not the link to the website.
Click “Add feed”
The feed appears in the list immediately. Newsroom then re-fetches it automatically every 15 minutes — you don’t need to refresh anything yourself.
Newsroom doesn’t check whether you’ve already added the same feed URL before. Add it a second time, and you get two separate subscriptions that are each fetched independently — the same items then show up twice in the “RSS-feeds” tab of Inbox.
The feed list
Each feed in the list shows:
- Name and URL — as entered when adding it.
- Last fetched — the time of the last successful fetch, or “Not fetched yet” if that hasn’t succeeded yet.
- Last error — shown instead of “Last fetched” as soon as the most recent fetch attempt failed (for example an unreachable or invalid feed URL), together with the error message.
- Active — a checkbox. Turning this off makes Newsroom skip this feed on the next fetch rounds until you check it again.
- Remove — removes the feed link immediately and permanently. Items already fetched into Inbox remain, unaffected.
Haven’t added any feed yet? Then this page just shows the text “No RSS feeds added yet.” instead of a list.
Importing an item from an RSS feed as a post (see the “RSS-feeds” tab in Inbox) automatically carries over the summary from the feed as starting text in the post editor. Fill in the content further after importing, for example using the original article (the link to it is shown with every item in Inbox).
