Media: audio
This is the audio part of the Media tab in the post editor. See also Media: photo and Media: video for the other two parts.
Fields
Like video, audio has no separate metadata fields — the only “field” is the file itself; the original filename is shown once audio is linked.
Uploading
- Supported formats: only mp2 and mp3.
- Otherwise works the same as video: upload your own, or “Find audio” to reuse a previously uploaded file.
If the upload itself fails (for example due to a network issue along the way, or an error saving it on the server), an error message appears and no audio gets linked to the post — you can simply try again.
Find audio (reuse)
“Find audio” searches the broadcaster-wide audio library (Media Manager) by filename.
“Find audio” only works, just like video, once the post itself has already been saved (i.e. after filling in General information for a post).
Link with FTP Audio
Audio you link here also counts toward the FTP Audio connection, if it’s active for the broadcaster — regardless of whether the post also has other media.
Automatically published with WordPress
Separately from FTP Audio: as soon as a post with linked audio publishes to WordPress, Newsroom automatically places a playable audio player with that file at the bottom of the post text — for every post with audio, with no setting to turn this off. This doesn’t happen on Joomla: there, audio only reaches the site via the FTP Audio connection above. See also the full field overview.
Deleting
An “Audio verwijderen” (Delete audio) button removes the link with this post immediately, without asking for confirmation first — unlike Media: video, which does show a confirmation prompt.
Workflow
Fill in General information first
Reusing audio via the search function only works once the post itself exists.
Upload audio, or find a previously uploaded file
Only mp2/mp3 is accepted.
