Settings: E-mail
This page lets you turn on your own e-mail address for your broadcaster. When someone (for example an external organization or a municipality) sends an e-mail to that address, it automatically appears as an incoming message in the E-mail source of the Inbox, ready to review and turn into a draft post with one click.
Roles and permissions
This page is only visible to users with the Instellingen (Settings) role (see Managing users), and only if the e-mail feature is enabled for your broadcaster.
You’ll find this page under the “Inbox & Connect” menu item in Settings, as a tab next to Newsroom Connect and RSS feeds (if those features are also enabled) — all three belong to the Inbox.
Channels: your own e-mail addresses
Your broadcaster can create several separately named channels — for example one “Press releases” address for the press and a separate “Editorial” address for tips from colleagues. Each channel gets its own, automatically generated e-mail address; you can’t choose or change that address yourself, only the channel’s name.
Turning on the e-mail feature for the first time automatically creates one channel named “Algemeen” (General) — you don’t need to create a channel yourself before you can start receiving e-mail.
For each channel:
- Copy — copies the full e-mail address to the clipboard, so you can easily share it with the organizations or colleagues who need to mail it.
- Rename — click the channel name to rename it; this only changes the label in Newsroom, not the e-mail address itself.
- Remove — deletes the channel and its address entirely. E-mails that already arrived through this channel remain in the Inbox as before.
A broadcaster can create a maximum of 5 channels. Once you’re at that limit, Newsroom shows a message that you’ve reached the maximum instead of the add-channel form — remove an existing channel first if you need a different address.

How does it work
Send an e-mail to the address
Optionally with an attachment such as a PDF or Word document.
The message appears in the Inbox
Within a few minutes, under the “E-mail” tab — see Inbox > E-mail for how to view it there, assign a category, and import it.
AI turns the content into a draft post
Unless you’ve turned on the skip-AI toggle below — in that case Newsroom takes the subject and content over directly, without any AI processing.
Skipping AI for inbound e-mail
By default, Newsroom uses AI to turn an incoming e-mail into a full draft post (title + content), the same step as Processing a press release — see also AI settings for the rest of your broadcaster’s AI configuration.
Turning on the “Skip AI for inbound e-mail” toggle makes Newsroom skip this AI step for all your e-mail channels: the e-mail’s subject directly becomes the title, and the e-mail’s content directly becomes the draft post’s text, unchanged.
This toggle applies to the whole broadcaster, for all e-mail channels together — you can’t set it per channel.
