My account
This is different from Managing users. That page is for an admin managing other users of the broadcaster. This page is about your own account: only you can see and change these settings, regardless of your role.
You’ll find these two screens via the account menu (your name, top right or in the sidebar), not via Settings.
My profile
Shows your avatar (a circle with the first letter of your name), your name and contact details, and an overview of every post you’re registered as the author of.
My settings
Here you change:
- Full name and email address.
- Alias — a name shown with your posts instead of your real name, which only you can change. This is the same field that determines the author name when publishing to Joomla (see Routing: Joomla for the full order: the post-level source author takes priority over this alias).
- Change password — enter your current password and a new password. A new password must be at least 8 characters long and must differ from your current password — there are no further requirements (no uppercase, digit, or special-character rules). After a successful password change, you’re automatically logged out and need to log back in with the new password.
Alias: this field only has an effect when publishing to Joomla — WordPress, TV, radio, and Newsroom’s own in-app bylines never use it. If you set it expecting your name to be replaced everywhere, in practice you’ll only see the effect on a Joomla connection.
Two-factor authentication (2FA)
Under My settings you can turn 2FA on or off:
- Enabling: Newsroom shows a QR code to scan with an authenticator app, after which you enter a 6-digit code to confirm. Enter an incorrect code and Newsroom shows an error while keeping you on the QR screen — you can simply try again, there’s no limit on the number of attempts. Once confirmed, Newsroom shows a one-time set of recovery codes.
- Regenerating recovery codes: invalidates the previous set.
- Disabling: requires confirmation in a separate dialog.
If you lose access to both your authenticator app and your recovery codes, there’s no self-service way back into your account — contact your administrator or Newsroom support in that case.
Notification preferences
Under Notification preferences you can turn notifications on or off per event — grouped by category (Posts, Production, Planning, Comments). See Notifications for the full list of events and the channels a notification arrives on (in-app, mobile push, browser notification).
Every event is on by default. Turning off a checkbox applies to all three channels at once — you cannot turn off one channel only (for example, keeping in-app on but turning off browser notifications) for a single event. Your choice is saved per event and stays in place after reloading the page.
