Managing users
This page is only visible to users with the User management role (see Roles below).
If you only want to look up names, email addresses, and phone numbers of your colleagues (not manage them), use the read-only team members list in Address book — that’s also available to users without the User management role, provided Address book is enabled for your broadcaster.
Adding a user
There are two ways:
- Search for and attach an existing user — a user can be attached to more than one broadcaster; this search adds an already-existing Newsroom user to your broadcaster, without creating a new account. If a user found is already attached to your broadcaster, the row shows “Already attached” instead of an attach button, so you can’t accidentally create a duplicate link.
- Create a new user — you only fill in a name and email address, no password: the user receives an email invitation and sets their own password. If the invitation didn’t arrive or expired, you can resend it from the user’s page as many times as you like. If the email address you enter already exists (at your broadcaster or another one), you get an error saying the email is already taken — in that case, use the search above to attach the existing user instead of creating a new one.
Assigning roles
Open a user to check off roles. The full list:
| Role | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Controle | Approve/reject posts in the review queue, see Review workflow. |
| Admin | Parent role; unlocks the two sub-roles below. |
| — Settings | Access to the settings pages themselves. |
| — User management | Access to this page (adding/editing users, assigning roles). |
| Broadcasting | Parent role; only visible if the broadcaster has the broadcasting feature. |
| — Broadcast Playout Management | Managing the playout configuration. |
| Planningbeheer | Create/edit/delete items in planning, see Working with planning and deadlines. |
| Archief | Access to the archive. |
| Calendar management | Parent role; unlocks the two sub-roles below. |
| — Calendar event update | Edit calendar events. |
| — Calendar event delete | Delete calendar events. |
Sub-roles are locked until the parent role is enabled. For example, you can’t check “Settings” or “User management” separately as long as “Admin” itself is off — turn on the parent role first, then the sub-roles beneath it become available.
Category access
Besides roles, you can check off categories per user.
Deleting and restoring
Deleting a user is a soft delete: the user disappears from the default list, but can be brought back with a restore button.
Workflow
Search for an existing user or create a new one
New users get an email invitation, no direct password.
Assign roles
Turn on a parent role first (Admin, Broadcasting, Calendar management) if you need one of the sub-roles beneath it.
Optionally set category access
Note: this hasn’t been confirmed as an actual restriction in the post editor.
