Troubleshooting error messages and issues
This page helps you when you see an error message or when something in Newsroom seems to get stuck. It’s not a complete list of everything that can go wrong, but a collection of the most common situations.
Logging in
A failed login attempt shows one of these messages:
- “Invalid credentials.” — the email address or password is incorrect.
- “Too many login attempts. Please try again later.” — you’ve tried to log in too many times in a row; wait a moment before trying again.
- “Invalid 2FA code.” — the two-factor authentication code you entered is incorrect or has expired; get a new code from your authenticator app.
- “An error occurred. Please try again.” or “An unexpected error occurred.” — a less common error, for example a temporary server issue or a connection problem. Refresh the page and try again, or contact your administrator if it keeps happening.
My post isn’t being published
Newsroom only publishes a post automatically once two conditions are met: the post has been approved by review, and the publication window has started. Neither situation produces an error message — the post simply stays unpublished. See Publication from / to in General information for a post for the full explanation of the publication window, and Review workflow for the approval step.
”Rewrite with AI” shows an error message
If the AI rewrite call fails for any reason (for example a brief connection error), you’ll see the message “AI couldn’t rewrite the article.” and the text field of your post stays editable. Your post itself isn’t lost — only the rewrite attempt failed, so you can simply try again or keep writing yourself. The same applies to the other AI actions in the post editor: “Create pages for TV”, “Generate radio bulletin”, “Read webpage”, and “Process Press Release” all show their own error message on failure and remain usable afterwards — none of these buttons or dialogs get stuck in a loading state without feedback.
