Productions
A production is a separate planning object for larger recordings or reports involving multiple steps — distinct from a single post. This page describes the full production screen; for how you create a production as a planning item and find it among your posts, see Working with planning and deadlines.
Productions are only visible if this feature is enabled for your broadcaster.
Roles and permissions
Any broadcaster user with access to Productions can see every production in the broadcaster and create a new one — there’s no separate role for this feature.
- Editing is allowed for the production’s own creator, or an admin (super admin).
- Deleting is allowed only for the creator themselves — even an admin can’t delete a colleague’s production. This is stricter than editing.
- Managing production types (adding, renaming, deleting, see “General information” below) has no role restriction of its own: any broadcaster user who can reach a production can edit this list — unlike, for example, categories or regions, which require the Settings role.
- Viewing the call sheet (see “Call sheet” and “Automatic callsheet email” below) is available to any broadcaster user with access to Productions, for every production — even if you’re not on the team or didn’t create the production yourself.
Production overview
The overview shows all your productions in a table: title, date, creator, status, and shortcuts to view, edit, or delete. Click “Nieuwe productie” (New production) to create one: title, production type, production date, and an optional deadline.
Deleting a production can’t easily be undone. The linked calendar event (see below) remains untouched, but the deleted production’s team, contacts, location, schedule items, and attachments can no longer be found anywhere in the screen afterwards. If in doubt, check with the production’s creator first — only that person can delete the production themselves (see Roles and permissions).
A production goes through three phases, each with its own sections on the detail page.
Pre-production / General
General information
Title, status (Concept / In production / Completed), production type, production date, and deadline. While editing this section, you can also manage the list of available production types (add, rename, delete) — this is the only place you can do so.
Briefing
A free-text field for instructions and background information about the production.
Research posts
Link existing posts to the production as background material — for example earlier articles on the same topic. You can view a linked post directly (title, content, image) without leaving the production page. Each linked post shows a status label (Draft, Scheduled, or Published), so you can see at a glance how far along the linked background article is.
Linked calendar event
Link exactly one event from the Calendar to the production — the same events you can also manage independently or link to a post. View, change, or unlink the linked event from this section.
Production
Team
Add broadcaster users to the production team, each with an optional role description (e.g. “Camera operator” or “Interviewer”).
Location
Enter the name and/or address of where the production takes place (street, house number, zip code, city, province, country) and an optional note. Then click “Look up coordinates via OpenStreetMap” (or via Google Maps, if your broadcaster has that configured) to look up the location automatically — only then does a small map appear with the location. You can record one location per production.
If you save the location without first explicitly clicking “Look up coordinates”, the map stays empty and no weather forecast gets linked to this location (see “Weather” below) — even if you filled in a complete address. Always click the lookup button before saving. If you already have the coordinates, you can instead type them in directly via “Show coordinates”.
Contacts
Link existing contacts from the Address book to the production — for this link you can also enter a role (e.g. “Camera operator”), separate from the contact’s own details — or create a new contact directly (name, role, email, phone, notes) which is immediately added to the broadcaster-wide address book as well.
Schedule
A time-based list of program items (time + description), automatically sorted by time. Useful for a minute-by-minute plan of the shoot day. Optionally mark an item as “Meal” (instead of the default “Schedule item”) — such an item gets its own label in the list and ends up in a separate catering block on the automatic call sheet PDF (see “Automatic callsheet email” below).
Weather
As soon as a location with coordinates is known for the production (see “Location” above), this section automatically shows the current weather forecast for that spot: temperature, a short description, wind speed, and sunrise/sunset. If no location with coordinates is known yet, this block stays empty.
The same weather data (temperature and sunrise/sunset) also appears at the top of the automatic call sheet PDF (see “Automatic callsheet email” below).
Attachments
Upload one file at a time as an attachment to the production (for example a schedule PDF or a reference image) — with a preview for images and PDFs, and a download link for other file types. Allowed file types: PDF, images (jpg, png, gif, webp), Word and Excel documents, PowerPoint presentations, and plain text or CSV files — any other file type is rejected on upload.
Call sheet
Click “View call sheet” to open the automatically compiled call sheet PDF directly in a new tab — the same content that’s also emailed to the team every night (see below). If no call sheet has been generated yet for this production (for example because it isn’t scheduled for tomorrow), Newsroom shows a message that no call sheet is available yet, instead of the PDF.
Post-production
Final result
Upload the production’s final result: video, audio, or an album of photos/videos. For video and audio, a button appears after uploading to turn it directly into a new post — you’re then taken straight to the post editor with the uploaded media already linked. For an album, you instead link an existing album (created via the broadcaster-wide media library) to the production, without automatically creating a post.
If you later return to a production for which a post was already created via video or audio, the same button reopens that existing post instead — no second, duplicate post is created.
Automatic callsheet email
Newsroom automatically sends a call sheet by email every evening. For every production whose linked calendar event (see “Linked calendar event” above) is scheduled for the next day, Newsroom automatically generates a PDF call sheet (with the general information, the schedule — including a separate catering block for items marked “Meal” — the team, and — if a location with coordinates is known, see “Location” above — the weather forecast and sunrise/sunset for that location) and emails it to everyone on the production team and to every linked contact from the Address book who has an email address — not just the team. This only looks at the linked calendar event’s date — not the Production date or Deadline from the General section. If a production has no linked calendar event, Newsroom sends no automatic email for it, even if the production date or deadline itself is tomorrow. If no location with coordinates is known, the PDF instead shows a generic placeholder text for the weather, without sunrise/sunset times. Want to see the content earlier? Use “View call sheet” in the Production phase above: it shows the same PDF, any time you want, without sending an email.
