Notifications
Top right in the header, on every page, you’ll find the notification bell. A red dot appears as soon as you have an unread notification — the bell doesn’t show a count, only that something new happened.
Clicking the bell opens the list of your latest notifications (newest first), each with a short description and timestamp. Clicking a notification itself takes you directly to the related post or production, and immediately marks it as read. “Mark all read” at the top marks the entire list as read in one go.
Which events trigger a notification
| Category | Event |
|---|---|
| Posts | Post submitted for review |
| Posts | Post approved |
| Posts | Post rejected |
| Posts | Post sent back for revision |
| Production | Added to production team |
| Planning | Assigned to a planning item |
| Planning | Deadline approaching |
| Comments | Mentioned in a comment (see Comments) |
Every event is on by default. You can turn individual events off yourself — see “Setting notification preferences” below.
Three channels at once
A notification doesn’t only end up in this bell. Newsroom sends the same notification simultaneously via:
- In-app — this notification bell, as long as you’re logged in.
- Mobile push — a push notification in the Newsroom app, if you have it installed and have allowed notifications.
- Browser notification — a system notification from your browser, even when Newsroom isn’t open in a tab. This channel is not on by default.
Enabling browser notifications
As long as you haven’t made a choice yet, the notification bell shows an “Enable browser notifications” link. Click it, and your browser asks for permission; accept it, and from that point on you’ll also receive browser notifications for as long as you’re logged in, even in a different tab or when Newsroom isn’t active on your screen.
